Cardiovascular
MoxieLinkThis Cardiovascular course is designed to strengthen clinical decision-making and rapid response skills for managing high-risk cardiac conditions in skilled nursing facilities. Participants will develop a practical understanding of hypotension, shock, and acid–base imbalances, with a focus on early recognition and targeted interventions to prevent organ failure. The course also addresses hypertensive emergencies, emphasizing symptom identification, emergency protocols, and safe management to reduce life-threatening complications.
Learners will explore common and high-impact cardiac conditions seen in SNFs, including congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathies, and acute coronary syndrome. Special attention is given to atypical presentations in older adults, early signs of decompensation, ongoing monitoring, and clear criteria for escalation of care. Through this course, healthcare professionals will be better equipped to respond quickly, reduce avoidable hospitalizations, and improve cardiovascular outcomes in vulnerable residents.
